Being an Emory faculty member is a multifaceted role which involves a life-long pursuit of new knowledge about ourselves and the world we inhabit and a strong commitment to teaching and learning. The Center for Faculty Development and Excellence supported by the Provost has become an invaluable university resource helping faculty develop in their many roles as teacher, researcher, author, clinician, and mentor. As the new director of the Center, my goal is to continue to discover innovative and creative ways to support and encourage faculty development, in all dimensions of a faculty member’s professional life. The CFDE staff is dedicated to assisting faculty at every level of their career, from graduate student to emeritus. This year the Center is also increasing its collaborations and partnerships with other university and community centers and programs involved in faculty development. Faculty growth is integral to institutional advancement. I am thrilled to be a part of the Center and to contribute to Emory’s continued growth and excellence.
We welcome your comments and insights on all aspects of faculty life at Emory, and ways in which we could fulfill our mission in new and creative ways. Please do not hesitate to contact me at steve.everett@emory.edu or Associate Director, Donna Troka at dtroka@emory.edu.
